The regular season concluded on Friday and the playoff pairings for the first round are all set.
Jefferson scored a big 31-7 win over Oconee County to take the No. 1 seed in the talented Region 8. Spalding’s 43-33 victory over Upson-Lee gave West Laurens the edge in a three-way tiebreaker for second place in Region 2. The No. 2 seed, however, still presents West Laurens with a difficult draw as they would likely face Jefferson in the second round opposed to St. Pius or Northwest Whitfield had they been seeded No. 3.
As for the first round matchups that will headline next Friday, Sandy Creek at Marist, Spalding at Eastside and Oconee County at Ridgeland are games of high interest. Stay tuned this week as we break down each of the 16 first round matchups.
