Lake City Classic

Boys

No. 6 Lambert 93, No. 8 Milton 67

After being dumped by No. 10 McEachern in the opening round of the Lake City Classic 73-37, the Longhorns came back with a vengeance and drilled the Eagles, who entered the losers bracket following a hard fought 74-68 loss to No. 2 McIntosh. Alex O’Connell was harassed all night by double teams and denials following his 25-point night against McIntosh. He finished with 27 points today, but Lambert’s inside punch of Navy signee Connor Mannion and North Georgia signee Ross Morkem was too potent. Mannion finished with 34 points and 11 rebounds after posting 16 points and six boards in last night’s rout. Morkem bounced back in a big way with 19 points of his own. Andrew Melms chipped in 15 points and seven assists at the point guard position to steer the Horns back in the winning direction.

Carrollton 47, No. 7 Riverwood 38

Last year’s state runner-ups, Carrollton, stunned 5A No. 7 Riverwood at the Lake City Classic, handing the Raiders their only loss of the season. Desmond Webb led the Trojans with 15 points while Jarel Rowe notched 13. The Trojans used six first half threes to gain separation and never relented the lead after Riverwood managed to tie the game in the third quarter.

No. 5 Calhoun 64, Kell 50

The Yellow Jackets advance to the Lake City Classic Championship to face Carrollton. Kaelan Riley finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds while Jireh Wilson added 20 points and 11 rebounds of his own. Ray Reeves netted 15 points and hauled in five rebounds.

No. 7 Whitefield Academy 51, North Cobb 39: The Wolfpack bounced back from a loss against Kell in the first round of the Lake City Classic to edge North Cobb in the losers bracket. Isaiah Hart and Brendon Myles led the way. The guard duo combined for 31 points with Myles scoring 16 and Hart 15.
