Keppler sets Cobb County record with 61

Jonathan Keppler of Kennesaw Mountain set a Cobb County Championship record by shooting a 10-under  61 at the City Club of Marietta, one shot short of the course record.

The senior, who has signed with Florida State, closed his round with an eagle and a birdie.  He finished seven shots better than Jordan Hsu of Walker, nine shots ahead of Davis Hall of Mount Paran and 10 better than Tyler Cunningham of Hillgrove.

The team title was taken by Walker, which shots a 293 and won by four shots over Kennesaw Mountain. Mount Paran was third and North Cobb Christian finished fourth.

Walker was led by Hsu with a 68, Barrett Kulik with a 72 and Allen Perez with a 75.

Lambert wins Wolverine Invitational

Led by medalist Brett Barron, Lambert High School shot a 294 to win the third annual West Forsyth Wolverine Invitational at the Polo Golf and Country Club in Cumming.

West Forsyth and Greater Atlanta Christian tied for second place at 294, with West Forsyth winning the tiebreaker on a scorecard playoff.

Etowah wins LaFayette Invitational

Led by Nick Budd’s 68, the Etowah boys won the LaFayette Invitational on Saturday.

The Eagles shot a 302 as a team, with Caleb Jensen shooting 74, Jake Haggerty shooting 77 and Grant Emery shooting 83.

LaFayette’s “A” team and Dalton tied for second at 305, with LaFayette’s “B” team and Heritage tied for fourth at 320.

LaFayette’s runner-up team got a 71 from Jacob Morgan, a 77 from Dylan Stansell, a 78 from Gage Smith and an 80 from Carter Grant. Dalton got a 71 from Allen Behr, 78s from Davis Kirk and Landon Hicks and 79s from Jackson Quarles and Addison Lambert.

Budd was the medalist. He finished two shots ahead of Jacob Morgan of LaFayette and Allen Behr of Dalton, who each shot 71s. Justin Hickman of Gordon Lee finished fourth with a 73 and Carter Pendley of Dalton and Sport Allmond of Heritage tied for fifth with a 74. Shooting 75s were Gunter Jordan of Sonoraville, Dawson Day of Trion and Brock Stewart of Calhoun

Alpharetta sweeps Centennial Open titles

The Alpharetta boys and girls won the 9 x 9 Centennial Golf Open.

The unique event requires each boys team to have four players compete on each nine, with all scores counting toward the team total. The girls teams had two competitors on each side. High schools usually play six and count the low four scores.

The Alpharetta boys shot 340, followed by North Atlanta with 354, Centennial with 369 and Hillgrove with 399.

Alpharetta’s Srikar Komanduri had a 36 for the low total on the back nine, while teammate Ben Dugger had a 40 for the low score on the front nine. North Atlanta’s Winston Meshad had a 37 on the front. Centennial’s Jake Wehr also had a 37.

The Alpharetta girls shot 179, followed by North Atlanta with 235 and St. Pius with 262. The Raiders got a pair of 43s from Kelsey Kurnett and Ashley Brown.

Morgan County wins Musketeer Invitational

Morgan County shot a 322 to win the Musketeer Invitational at Mount Vintage on the Chester Golf Club. The event included teams from Georgia and South Carolina.

Morgan County's Eamon Owen shot a 1-under 71 to earn medalist honors. Owen also won the closest-to-the-pin competition.

Evans placed second at 331 and North Augusta (S.C.) was third at 332.
