Here’s a look at the top happenings from Friday night’s action.

ELCA is still ELCA. The defending private champs jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, en route to a 45-0 romp over Class AAA Hart County (1-2).

Marion County appears to still be Marion County. One year into the post-Mike Swaney era, Marion County (3-0) is still rolling. The Eagles raced to a 42-0 lead after just one quarter in a 56-13 smashing of St. Anne-Pacelli (0-3). Marion, the No. 5 team in the public poll, was led by quarterback JJ Fuller, who completed just nine passes on 11 attempts, with five going for touchdowns.

New coach, same results for Calvary Day.  Rick Tomberlin has picked up right where Mark Stroud left off in Savannah. Calvary Day, ranked No. 5 (private) is 3-0 after downing No. 10 (private) Aquinas (1-2), 32-13. Quarterback Sal Calderon ran for two scores to lead the Cavaliers, who are undefeated thus far in their first season under Tomberlin, who spent the previous three seasons at Effingham Count.

FPD is for real. The Vikings, No. 9 in the private poll, may have picked up their most impressive win since joining the Georgia High School Association in 2010, as First Presbyterian Day destroyed previously unbeaten Hawkinsville (2-1), 56-0. It was total domination from start to finish, as FPD scored three touchdowns in the game's first six minutes and Hawkinsville managed just two first downs in the first half. The Vikings outgained the Red Devils 418-96 and gave them their worst loss since. 2009.

Darlington makes a statement. The Tigers spotted Heard County a 14-0 lead, but scored the game's next four touchdowns en route to handing the No. 10 team in Class AA its first loss of the season, 28-10. Darlington, ranked No.6 in the private poll, tied the score at halftime on the strength of two touchdown runs by Tijai Whatley. Elijah McKoy had a 20-yarder in the third quarter to put the Tigers on top, and Whatley scored his third TD of the night, a two-yarder, late in the fourth to put the game away.
