Answer to Tuesday's question: The option of attempting a free kick for three points is allowed in high school football after any fair catch. A free kick is an undefended kick, and teams line up 10 yards from each other. One type of free kick is a kickoff. Free kicks after fair catches count for three points if they split the uprights. Any free kick can be returned if it does not reach the end zone.
