A story today by GHSF Daily pointed out that there were 10 first-time state champions in 2011-13, the most first-time champs over a three-year stretch in GHSA history. That came as a surprise. Of course, having seven state champions each of the past two seasons didn't hurt, but remember that the GHSA has been staging state championships in all classifications since 1948. There were several examples of nine new champions in three seasons, but never 10. That includes 1948-50. In 1948, there were four new champs because that's when it started. In 1949, there were no repeat winners, therefore four new champs again. But in 1950, there was only one new champ. Here are the 10 from 2011-13.

2013 Aquinas

2013 Creekside

2013 Marion County

2012 Eagle's Landing Christian

2012 Gainesville

2012 Jefferson

2012 Norcross

2011 Burke County
