Daily List: Maxwell Ratings' projected Class A playoff seeds

The GHSA power ratings for Class A are out, but with less than half the season complete, they aren't reliable in predicting how things will finish. They have no way of knowing strength of schedule over the second half of the season. Below are the projections of the final Class A playoff seeds from the Maxwell Ratings. They gauge each team's chances of winning each remaining game. Aside from providing a fair glimpse into the future, the Maxwell Ratings also point out a shortcoming of the GHSA points system, the fact that a 10-team region might not play enough non-region competition for its teams to be fairly seeded. According to Maxwell's projections, Mitchell County (projected No. 1 seed), Seminole County (No. 7) and Terrell County (No. 8) will each get first-round byes, then home playoff games in the second round. Maxwell doesn't consider any of those three to be among even the best 16 Class A public-school teams. In fact, Maxwell doesn't rate Seminole County or Randolph-Clay as being among the 24 best Class A public-school teams.
