Oct. 28
Time to take our weekly look at the updated Georgia High School Association/Max Preps power ratings, with a look at teams that rose, sank, dropped out or jumped into the Top 16 private and public schools. With two games left on the regular season schedules for most teams, the post season picture is beginning to come into focus.

Who dropped out: None
Who jumped in: ELCA
Last one out: Christian Heritage (4-5) at No. 18
-- Calvary Day has overtaken Aquinas for the top spot even though the Cavaliers are credited with just seven wins, not eight, for power rating purposes. Calvary Day's season opening win over New Hampstead, a first-year Class AAAA program just outside of Savannah, does not count toward the power ratings because the Phoenix are playing a non-region schedule this season.
-- ELCA moved into a tie for the No. 16 and final spot with its 35-28 win over Landmark.
-- Landmark's loss dropped the War Eagles five spots and out of the top eight, which would mean they would most likely be on the road for all of their playoff games. (But Landmark should move back into the top eight when the final ratings are released.)
-- Pinecrest is in the top five despite the fact that the Paladins have beaten just one team with a winning record (St. Francis) and the combined record of the six teams they have beaten is 19-29.

Who dropped out: None
Who jumped in: None
Last one out: Hancock Central (4-5) and Wilcox County (3-5), tied at No. 17
-- Telfair County's loss to Charlton County last week (34-20) dropped the Trojans, losers of three of their last four, to the brink of being out of the playoffs.
-- Lincoln County made the largest jump, moving up four spots to No. 10. The Red Devils have won five straight.
-- All-public Region 1, in a down year this season, will have just one team make the playoffs. That spot will be decided Friday when Calhoun (6-2, 3-0), currently No. 9 in the power ratings, hosts Mitchell County (4-4, 3-0) in a game that will decide the region champion.
