At least four Georgia schools have announced head-coaching changes since the end of the regular season.
Rutland coach George Collins is retiring. Collins, a former star player at Warner Robins and Georgia, was a head coach for 15 seasons with stops at Perry, Houston County, and Rutland since 2008.
Jeff Battles is out as Hardaway's coach after eight seasons. Battles had led Pacelli to a couple of playoff appearances and a state quarterfinal berth in 2006, but Hardaway never won a playoff game in his tenure.
"I want Hardaway to be successful," Battles told the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer. "In order for them to be successful, they need a culture change. They need some new blood to come in and put in some different things, impart some new ideas."
Rockmart's Bin Turner won't return after two seasons during which the Yellow Jackets were 3-8 and 2-8.
Clarke Central's Ahren Self has resigned after three seasons. Clarke finished 4-6 this season, its first losing record in 10 years.
"This past season and the past couple years, we haven't performed like we needed to and it's that time," Self told the Athens Banner-Herald.
