Cedar Shoals, Oconee County, Upson-Lee and Coahulla Creek have hired football coaches this week.

Cedar Shoals announced the return of Scott Wilkins, the Jaguars’ head coach from 1994 through 2007, during which his record was 106-50-1. He is Cedar Shoals’ all-time most winning coach. Wilkins led the Jaguas to the 1995 state finals. Wilkins had been an assistant the past six years at Athens Academy. He replaces Chris Davis, who was Cedar Shoals’ third coach since Wilkins left, not counting one who resigned before coaching his first game.

Oconee County hired Stephens County head coach Travis Noland to replace Mitch Olson. Noland was 73-30 in nine seasons in Toccoa. Oconee County was 20-41 under Olson and hasn’t had a winning season since 2004. Noland is a former Appalachian State quarterback who had been head coach at two schools in North Carolina.

Upson-Lee hired Harris County head coach Tommy Parks to replace Tommy Watson, who retired. Parks is a native of Upson County and played on R.E. Lee’s 1988 state championship team. He was 54-54 in 10 seasons at Harris County. His 2012 team was a region champion and reached the quarterfinals, and his 2013 team finished tied for the Region 1-AAAAA title.

Coahulla Creek, which opened in 2012 in Dalton, hired Clay County (Tenn.) head coach Chad Barger to replace Jared Hamlin, who started the program. Barger was 3-7 last season at Clay County and was 29-26 at Sequatchie County, which had gone 1-19 the previous two seasons. Coahulla Creek has finished 2-8 in its two seasons of varsity football.
