Cartersville coach Joey King confirmed to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Thursday that he is remaining at Cartersville.

King, a former offensive coordinator with Carrollton, was considered a candidate for the Trojans’ vacant head coaching positions.

Rusty Mansell of 247sports.com first reported the new Wednesday night.

King led Cartersville to the Class AAAA state championship in 2015. The Purple Hurricanes defeated perennial power Buford in the state championship game to cap a 15-0 season.

Carrollton dismissed coach Ed Dudley in December after two seasons.
