Brookwood girls win seventh straight region title ... More tennis results

The Brookwood girls won their seventh straight region championship, this time without their No. 1 singles player. The Broncos were without Clarissa Jolley, who was ill and could not play in the Region 7-AAAAAAA final. But Brookwood swept the two doubles matches and got a win from Christina Bugg at No. 2 singles to put it away.  Lakeside-DeKalb beat Parkview to earn third place.

Grayson sweeps Region 8-AAAAAAAA: The Rams beat Archer 3-0 for the boys championship and blanked Rockdale County 3-0 in the girls final. Singles players Brandon Wilson and Julia Howes led the Rams to victory. Archer beat South Gwinnett in the girls consolation final.

Three straight for North Gwinnett girls: The Bulldogs won the Region 6-AAAAAAA girls title for the third straight season. North Gwinnett defeated Mill Creek 3-0 in the final. North freshman Elizabet Verizova scored a big singles win and remained unbeaten in region play.  Duluth won the third-place match by beating Peachtree Ridge.

Region 4-AAAAAAA: Walton’s girls  knocked off Woodstock in the final. Etowah beat Cherokee for third place.

Region 8-AAAA: The Flowery Branch girls took first place by beating Buford 3-1 in the championship match. The Buford boys earned revenge, by beating Flowery Branch 3-2 in the final, with the No. 1 doubles team of Cameron Deloach and Alex Pruitt winning the deciding match.

Region 7-AAA: North Hall got singles wins from Lauren Davis and Christen Barnes to sweep Greater Atlanta Christian and win the girls championship. The GAC boys defeated North Hall 3-0 to claim first place.

Region 8-AAA: Morgan County beat Jackson County 3-1 to take the girls title, while Jackson County beat Franklin County 3-2 in the boys finale.

Region 8-AA: Gabe Martin’s singles win helped lift Banks County’s boys to a 3-0 win over Elbert County in the boys final.
