The No. 1 team in the nation hails from Georgia.

McIntosh, winner of 35 consecutive matches heading into Friday, was ranked No. 1 by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America this week. All five regional voters had the Chiefs as the top team on their ballot.

Senior Adam Sheikali has been the catalyst for McIntosh. Sheikali scored six goals and had seven assists in wins over Greenbriar, Whitewater, Marist and Northgate.

Brookwood (No. 5), Walton (No. 9) Greater Atlanta Christian (No. 11) and Johnson of Gainesville (No. 19) also represented Georgia in the NSCAA poll. The NSCAA is the largest coaching association in the nation with 30,000 members.

--Brookwood, Class AAAAAA’s No. 1-ranked team in the state, remained unbeaten with a 3-0 win over Dacula on Tuesday. Sophomore goalkeeper Andy Harris posted his sixth shutout of the season and lowered his goals against average to 0.43.

The Broncos have nine shutouts in 13 wins and have allowed only six goals all season. Samaan Williams had two goals against Dacula, and Matt Gower had a goal and an assist. On the season, Alfredo Rivera leads the Broncos with 10 goals. Brahan Gamarra has nine goals and nine assists.

--No. 3 Lambert stunned second-ranked Walton, 2-1, Thursday on Zack Davis’ game-winner with 13 seconds left in the second overtime.

--Dalton, Class AAAA’s No. 1 team, knocked off No. 7 Northwest Whitfield, 4-1, on Thursday. Dalton coach Matt Cheaves pointed to strong performances from midfielders Kobe Perez and Eder Mora, who helped the Catamounts control much the match.

--As of Thursday, Greater Atlanta Christian, Class AA's top-ranked squad, has outscored teams 53-6 this season. Ryan Marcano leads the Spartans with 17 goals, and Will Hamryka has 14.

--Glynn Academy goalkeeper Connor Behrend posted his seventh shutout of the season in a 2-0 win over Richmond Hill last week.

--Josh Baker scored four goals in Evans’ 5-1 victory over Richmond Academy on Thursday.

--Morgan Sowell had a hat trick from Stratford in a 6-0 win over Westfield on Thursday.

--The Northgate-Starrs Mill soccer matches on Friday have been rained out, according to the Newnan Times-Herald twitter feed.
