North Gwinnett defensive coordinator Robert Andrews is the new head coach at Bowdon, replacing retired 300-game winner Dwight Hochstetler, the Class AA school in Carroll County announced on Friday.

Andrews has been North's defensive coordinator since 2013. He held the same post with Grayson from 2005 to 2012 and was part of Grayson's 2011 Class AAAAA championship team that featured All-America defensive end Robert Nkemdiche. Grayson had 26 shutouts in those eight seasons, including the 24-0 victory over Walton in the title game. Andrews also had been an assistant at Wesleyan.

In 2013, Andrews was announced as the head coach at East Jackson. He resigned before the season began, saying the move was not a good fit.

Hochstetler came to Bowdon in 1988. He won a state title there in 1992. Bowdon also won state titles at Greenville in 1980 and 1984. His final record was 345-114-1 in 37 seasons, according to the Georgia High School Football Historians Association.
