There’s a big game at St. Pius tonight between two red-hot teams.

No. 3 Lithonia rolls in on a 20-game winning streak. The Bulldogs (20-1, 15-) haven’t lost since the season opener to North Clayton and sit in first place, two games ahead of second-place St. Pius, in the brutally tough Region 6-AAAA.

The Golden Lions (19-3) have won 10 in a row, but have their hands full against defensive-minded Lithonia team that held them to 41 points in a mid-December loss.

“Lithonia is a great defensive team,” St. Pius coach Aaron Parr said. “They try to switch a lot of screens and protect the pant. We have to be patient and execute offensively against them.”

No. 1 Jonesboro banged-up

No. 1 Jonesboro is battling the injury bug, but doesn't seem to be slowing down. The Cardinals won their 20thstraight game Tuesday, pulling away from Griffin, 62-49, despite missing two starters. Senior forward Tracey Hector (ankle) and freshman center Jamari Smith (fractured hand) sat out Tuesday's win and won't play tonight against Spalding. Hector had 15 points and nine rebounds in Jonesboro's big win over Alabama power Spain Park last weekend, despite playing with noticeable limp. He's not expected back until the region tournament. Smith is out five weeks, according to the Cardinals' coaching staff.

Jonesboro (21-1, 11-0 Region 4-AAAA) is ranked 16th nationally by MaxPreps.com.
