Hardman had another outstanding game on Friday at No. 4 Elbert County outlasted Laney 32-19 in a very physical game at the Granite Bowl.

Hardman rushed for 190 yards and three touchdowns and threw a touchdown pass to lead the Blue Devils (4-0). La’kel Hood scored the other touchdown for Elbert County.

Laney quarterback Vicen’te Thompkins held up his end of the deal and ran for two touchdowns.

The difference came in the second half, when Laney scored on drives of 75 and 92 yards to put the game away.

Halvorson the hero for Westside: Westside kicker Blaine Halvorson was the hero for Westside Macon on Friday night. The junior made a 32-yard field goal in overtime to give the No. 6 Seminoles a 24-21 win over Central Macon.

Halvorson just missed a 35-yarder at the horn that would have won the game. He made up for it in overtime and helped Westside to its xxth straight win over its Bibb County rival.

Westside (4-0) played from behind all game, as Central (2-2) led 7-0, 14-7 and 21-14.

It was a crazy fourth quarter. Westside’s Gerimie Mitchell scored on an 18-yard pass from Savion Knowlton to tie the game 14-14 early in the period. Central then went ahead on a 10-yard pass from Derrick Evans to Ivory Childers with 7:10 left. Westside knotted it up again when Lakelvin Clark ran it in from 21 yards.

Clark rushed 16 times for 94 yards. Knowlton completed 14 of 26 for 159 yards, finding Mitchell and Steve Dolphus for six completions each.

Evans played a fine game. He ran for 41 yards and scored two touchdowns and threw for another. Antonio Sanders was the workhorse for the Chargers, rushing 22 times for 138 yards.

Another easy one for Calhoun: The No. 1-ranked Yellow Jackets welcomed the return of tailback Olico Dennis, who scored on runs of 74, 29 and 3 yards in the first half of Calhoun's 55-17 win over North Murray.

Kaelan Riley threw a touchdown pass to Luke Jones (who also intercepted a pass) and another to Jess Ralston (who also scored on a 62-yard run). Baylon Spector caught a 59-yard pass and did not score. Jonah Landry returned a kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown.

No. 10 Dodge County rolls along: Dodge County validated its entry into the rankings with a 31-7 win over Southeast Bulloch. The Indians used their powerful running game (331 yards), with  Clint Thompson carrying nine times for 95 yards and three touchdowns, Kyle Glover running 12 times for 72 yards and Camron Young rushing six times for 60 yards and one touchdown. Thompson also completed 8 of 11 passes for 99 yards.

Quarterback Jelani Woods threw two touchdown passes and tailback LaBron Morris ran for two touchdowns for the Saints (3-1).

Peach continues dominance of Spencer: No. 7 Peach County improved to 13-0 against Spencer with a 41-0 win on Friday. Otha Redding ran for two touchdowns and returned an interception for a score. Quarterback Tyrique McGhee ran for a 3-yard score and threw a 35-yard touchdown pass.
