Georgia Tech legend Mark Price is considering a job offer to be the next head coach at UNC Charlotte, according to an ESPN report Tuesday. Price has been an assistant coach with the Charlotte Hornets, formerly the Bobcats, for the past two seasons.

It would be Price’s first head coaching job at the college level. Price was a head coach at Whitefield Academy in Cobb County for one season and briefly was the head coach for an Australian professional team, but otherwise has been an assistant with several teams, including Tech in 1999-2000.

Last week, Charlotte separated from coach Alan Major after five seasons. Major twice took medical leaves of absence in the past two years.

Price, 51, has lived in Charlotte since taking the coaching job there.

Tech and Charlotte had a home-and-home series the past two seasons. The Yellow Jackets won both games with last-second baskets.
