FLOWERY BRANCH — Here are the five things we learned Tuesday about the Falcons (6-6), who play at Carolina (12-0) in a NFC South game at 1 p.m. Sunday at Bank of America Stadium. The Falcons have dropped five straight and six of seven.
1. INSIDER TRADING: Falcons safety Charles Godfrey played seven seasons with the Carolina Panthers. He has the in side information on how Ron Rivera has turned the Panthers into three-time NFC South champions.
2. NO POWER: The Falcons dropped from 17th to 19th in the most recent AJC Power rankings.
3. RYAN ON SAME PAGE WITH SHANAHAN: Matt Ryan gave Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan a vote of confidence. The Falcons have not scored more than one touchdown in the previous two games. Both of them came in the fourth quarter. Also, wide receiver Julio Jones questioned the play-calling in the red-zone.
4. TOP 50 COUNTDOWN: Georga Kunz checked in at No. 19. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is counting down the Top 50 players in Atlanta Falcons history during the franchise's 50th anniversary season. No. 19 is defensive tackle George Kunz.
5. PRACTICE SQUAD MOVES: The Falcons signed safety Terrance Parks to the practice squad and waived cornerback T.J. Heath from the practice squad. The also waived defensive tackle Ricky Havili-Heimuli off of injured reserve. Parks, 6-2, 218 pounds, was originally signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as a undrafted rookie free agent following the 2012 NFL draft out of Florida State. He spent time in the Canadian Football League with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2013. In 2014, he spent time with Seattle and Houston.
