FLOWERY BRANCH -- Falcons wide receiver Roddy White was held out of the first-day of practice at the team's minicamp on Tuesday so that an undisclosed injury did not flare, according to coach Dan Quinn.
Safety William Moore (shoulder), linebacker Brooks Reed (hamstring), center/guard Joe Hawley (knee), tackle Jake Matthews (foot), cornerback Jalen Collins (foot) and guard/center Peter Konz (knee) all took part in the practice.
Moore got some action in the seven on seven drills.
"You feel the size and presence of him," Quinn said of Moore.
Linebacker Marquis Spruill, who's coming back from knee surgery, did not practice. Guard Jon Asamoah (ankle) and cornerback Dezmen Southward (knee) did not practice. Asamoah worked out with the training staff.

Here are five other observations from the practice:
1. Allen at safety. Ricardo Allen spent time with the first-team defense at free safety. He played alongside Kemal Ishmael.
2. Hester missing. Returner Devin Hester was not at practice. He was excused for personal reasons and may or may not be at practice on Wednesday, according to coach Dan Quinn.
3. Beasley gets big sack. On a simulated fourth down, first-round pick Vic Beasley put a nice spin move on left tackle Matt Huffer to get the sack.
4. Wenning gets tryout. Former Ball State QB Keith Wenning was on had for his minicamp tryout. He's wearing jersey number four.
5. Ryan on the move. Quarterback Matt Ryan appeared pretty nimble running the bootleg after giving up the ball on stretch plays to the opposite side.
