The Falcons were determined to run against Tampa Bay.

They used Gabe Carimi as the Jumbo tight end on 18 of their 66 offensive snaps (27 percent) and fullback Patrick DiMarco on 20 snaps (30 percent) to help create some running room for Steven Jackson and the backs, The Falcons rushed for 110 yards.

Offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter might be on to something. The Falcons are 3-1 when they rush for more than 100 yards.

Falcons defensive end Jonathan Massaquoi's foot injury must be more serious than the team is letting on. They want to play him more, but he played only 6 of 72 snaps (8 percent) against Tampa Bay.

Second-round pick Ra'Shede Hagemen played only eight naps (11 percent) in his first game after his digital meltdown.

Rookie safety Dezmen Southward saw his most extensive action of the season. He played 49 of 72 defensive snaps (68 percent). He had three tackles and one quarterback hit.
