FLOWERY BRANCH -- Falcons wide receiver Roddy White did not take part in the practice for the second in a row at minicamp on Wednesday.
White is expected to return on Thursday.
Returner Devin Hester was excused for the second day for a family matter.
Linebacker Marquis Spruill, who's coming back from knee surgery, did not practice. Guard Jon Asamoah (ankle) and cornerback Dezmen Southward (knee) did not practice. Asamoah worked out with the training staff on Tuesday, but not on Wednesday.
Here are five quick observations from the practice (please return later for more updates from today's just concluded practice):
1. Allen picks off Ryan. Ricardo Allen playing alongside Kemal Ishmael made a nice interception off Matt Ryan. Allen's transition to free safety is going along smoothly so far.
2. Julio Jones on Jalen Collins. In the 7-on-7, Jones went hard at Collins for 10 yards and then cut inside to his right. He made the catch and turned up field against the Falcons' second round pick out of LSU.
3. Jones and Morris chatter. After cornerback Jonathon Mincy deflected a pass intended for Jones, Jones and assistant head coach Raheem Morris got into some friendly chatter for about 90 seconds after the play.
4. Nickel front: LDE Kroy Biermann, DT Jonathan Babineaux, DT Tyson Jackson and RDE Vic Beasley. On one play, Beasley flashed his speed on left tackle Tyler Polumbus and slipped under his block for a sack.
5. Therezie injured. Defensive back Robenson Therezie suffered a left ankle injury. The ankle was heavily taped and he did not immediately return to action.
