FLOWERY BRANCH – Falcons tight end Jacob Tamme, who was signed to a two-year $4 million contract in free agency, is trying to revive his career after two down seasons with the Denver Broncos.

Tamme, 30, is considered a pass-catching tight end by the Falcons, but only caught 14 and 20 passes over the past two seasons.

Here’s a Q&A with Tamme before the team opens it’s minicamp at 1:30 p.m. today:

Q: How it’s going?

A: "It's been going great. We've got a lot of guys working really hard. It's as hard working of a group that I've been around in the NFL. There are a lot of guys out here every day trying to get better. I think this is some of the best offseason practices that I've been around."

Q: Are you hoping to revive your career?

A: "I've felt great. My body feels great. I've always felt like I could produce in the right situations. I'm working hard to make this a good situation. I think this is a place where I'm going to do everything I can to help the team. Whatever situation I'm in, I'll be working hard to make catches. Work my tail off in the run game or wherever the team needs me to get out there and make plays, that's what I'm working hard to do."

Q: How has it been learning a new offense?

A: "It's definitely my first time being in a new offense, which is actually kind of fun for me right now. This is something that   getting to learn a new scheme at this point in my career is kind of mentally refreshing to get in here and learn new concepts. And, I think it's exciting for me because it's really an offense that I feel like I can help make some plays in. I think our whole tight end group is working hard to be a productive group."

Q: What has it been like working with Matt Ryan after spending years with Peyton Manning in Indianapolis and Denver?

A: "There are very few places where I could go, get a chance to go and not feel Iike I was dropping off a cliff. Being around Peyton for so long there are only five or six places that you can go and be with a QB that absolutely gets it. Matt is one of those QBs. He gets it."

Q: What stands out about Ryan to you?

A: "He knows how to learn. He can throw the football great. A lot of guys can throw it pretty good, but do that have that quality of being a leader and that type of quarterback that can go win you big games. Matt has that and I've been really enjoyed being around him and working with him so far."
