FLOWERY BRANCH – Falcons coach Dan Quinn was busy last week scouting.
He went to Georgia's Pro Day, to Philadelphia to work out players at Temple and Villanova and then took a flight to Youngstown to work out Youngstown State standout Derek Rivers.
He finished his week at Georgia Tech’s Pro on Friday.
This week he’ll stay in the office and work with his coaching staff on draft preparation and scheme evaluations.
The following week, Quinn will attend the league meetings March 26 through 29 in Phoenix.
Quinn checked out Villanova’s Tanoh Kpassagon and Temple’s Hasson Reddick while in Philadelphia as the Falcon are trying to improve their pass rush.
Reddick is projected as an outside linebacker and a first-round pick by NFLDraftScout.com.
Rivers is projected as a defensive end and second- or third-round pick and Kpassagon is projected as a defensive end and a third- or fourth-round pick.
“We had a good session with those guys and then after that I went to Youngstown State,” Quinn said. “I had a nice visit with those guys.”
The Falcons can sit at the 31st position in the draft and select the best player available as they won't need to reach for a player to fill a need since they don't really have a major hole to fill.
The key needs are are pass rusher, right guard, fullback.
Under the first post-combine mock draft, we have Michigan's do-it-all guy Jabrill Peppers being selected by the Falcons with the 31st overall pick.
He will be too intriguing for the Falcons to pass up in the match-up NFL.
