Southwest Airlines on Tuesday launches nonstop flights from Atlanta to Nashville.
The airline will operate five flights a day Monday through Friday between Nashville and Atlanta, and three flights a day on Saturdays and Sundays.
When Southwest first announced plans to fly the route, the airline said it “answers business community requests in both Nashville and Atlanta,” according to a written statement from Southwest vice president of technical operations Trevor Stedke.
Business people have long sought more service between Nashville and Atlanta, according to Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority CEO Doug Kruelen, who added that the new route brings more competition and options. Delta Air Lines already flies the route.
