Qatar Airways to hire in Atlanta

Qatar Airways, which just launched daily flights from Doha to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, will soon begin hiring flight attendants in Atlanta.

The airline plans to begin recruiting cabin crew members in Atlanta in July, said Rossen Dimitrov, the carrier's senior vice president of consumer experience.

Dimitrov says the airline's 10,000 cabin crew members get a tax-free salary, furnished accommodations, paid utilities, transportation to and from the airport, "buddy" tickets and other benefits.

The carrier has been criticized by protesters for labor practices in Qatar, and Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines has alleged Qatar and other Gulf carriers are unfairly subsidized by their governments.

Qatar Airways will operate its Atlanta to Doha route with a Boeing 777, though it operated the inaugural flight with the Airbus A380 super jumbo jet to celebrate the start of the service.
