Earlier this year, the Rebels sold out of season tickets in record time, according to The Clarion Ledger.
So how does a school report officially selling out of season tickets after 43,672 were sold, and then claim that they have set a new record with 52,375 sold two months later?
The AJC reached out to Ole Miss Associate Athletic Director Joey Jones for clarification.
“The difference there is student tickets,” Jones explained. “Student tickets were not on sale when we sold out in June, so the original number only includes public season tickets and the new number has added the number of student tickets sold.”
It is clear that the excitement surrounding the program is at an all-time high. This is only the third time in school history that Ole Miss has sold out of season tickets – also achieving the feat in 2009 and in 2014.
The school is also undergoing an expansion of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, which will house 5,500 more Rebels fans in 2016. So this is a record that is likely to be broken again soon.
Of course nothing can be said about Ole Miss without bringing up their in-state rivals.
Oh well, the Rebels appear to have won this battle, and that makes one person very happy.
