LSU sophomore running back Leonard Fournette burst into the SEC last season, and is considered by many to be a Heisman contender this season.

Fournette announced on Thursday that he would add “Le.” to his jersey this season as his younger brother, Lanard Fournette, has joined the team, also as a running back.

This move is clearly an attempt to avoid any confusion when the two brothers are playing together on Saturdays. One could argue that this is why numbers are put on the jerseys, but this may stop some fans from thinking that the elder Fournette has some Jekyll and Hyde situation going on with his running abilities.

Another interesting element is the origin of their last name. Fournette is French. “Le” and “La” are used in the French language to differentiate between masculine and feminine objects. So when Le. Fournette is out on the field, he wants us all to know which brother is really the top dog.

Smart move, big bro.
