UGA’s new recruit wants to be the next Hines Ward

"You have another Hines Ward in the program," Davis told the AJC. "I'm going to live up to that."

The 3-star wide receiver from Mays High School, who is famously known for having the “G” tattooed on his left bicep, also plans on adding to his collection of UGA-related tattoos, but he won’t be adding anything to his current one.

“I’m not worried about that tattoo anymore,” he said. “I’m going to get more Georgia tattoos on other parts of my body now.”

Mays High School coach Corey Jarvis told the AJC that UGA coaches plan on having Davis play multiple positions — something Bulldogs legend Hines Ward knows a thing or two about.

Ward finished his UGA career with 144 career receptions, 1,965 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. He also played quarterback and running back while at school.

Davis may find himself in a similar situation with UGA.

“They talked to him about the possibility of playing some defensive back and some receiver,” Jarvis said. “(Wide receivers coach Bryan) McClendon wants him at receiver, but (defensive coordinator Jeremy) Pruitt has been chomping at the bit wanting him to play some DB.

“He’s at the point right now where he really doesn’t care which position he plays. I know receiver is his preference and that’s where we have him at mostly, but so many people love his athleticism at cornerback as well. That could be his ticket to the NFL.”

Davis doesn’t care which position he ends up playing for the Bulldogs. He is just happy to accomplish one of his childhood dreams.

“It feels good to do something that I have been wanting to do since I was a little kid. I know I’m going to excel at whatever I do.”
