NEW: Did UGA catch up with Auburn and Ohio State for DT Antwuan Jackson?

That's a big question because Dawg Night may have been the last UGA trip for Antwuan Jackson, the 4-star defensive tackle from Cedar Grove High School, before he makes his college decision in the next couple of months.

Earlier this month, Jackson released his top 10 list, including Auburn and Ohio State as his co-leaders. UGA was No. 3, which is not bad — but many expected it to be the Bulldogs tied for Auburn for the top spot, not Ohio State.

So how did it go for the prospect nicknamed “Hercules” at Dawg Night? It went well, Jackson told the AJC, but the status of his leaders (Auburn and Ohio State at the top) remains the same.

“They (UGA) were just happy for me to be back there and to talk to me again,” Jackson said.” I don’t think they really had to push for me … Georgia has always been one of my top teams. It hasn’t really changed … I just wanted to get back down there and see the coaches again.”

The 6-foot-2, 300-pounder opted not to work out at Dawg Night, rather standing along the sidelines to watch other defensive linemen go through drills. He also had the chance to chat with UGA assistants Jeremy Pruitt and Tracy Rocker.

“They were just happy for me to just get back up there again,” Jackson said. “I haven’t seen them in a couple of months or so, but they were just really happy for me to be there again.

“I’ve always had good relationships with them (Pruitt and Rocker). I’ve been really close to them ever since my ninth grade year. As soon as Coach Pruitt got in and Coach Rocker got (hired by UGA) … I’ve just had a great relationship with both of them.”

What’s next for Jackson? He will likely visit Ohio State this summer before making his college decision in the fall. UGA appears to be on the outside looking in, but Jackson claimed that he’s still heavily considering the Bulldogs.

“Georgia has always been high on my list. They’ve never been low.”
