You don’t see something like this very often in recruiting.

One of Alabama’s top football recruits was ruled ineligible on Wednesday – despite the fact that he enrolled early in classes with the Crimson Tide last January.

The player is DeSherrius Flowers, a 4-star tailback from Vigor High School of Mobile, Ala. He was one of two running backs in Alabama's No. 1 class from 2015, along with Damien Harris of Berea, Ky.

Flowers was also one of eight Alabama signees to have a good enough transcript to be approved for early admission last January. He went through spring practices with the team.

What happened? In a statement, Alabama said that Flowers will not be enrolled this fall “due to a recently discovered initial eligibly issue.”
