Everett Golson is expected to announce today where he will play next season, the Palm Beach Post has reported.
A source told the Florida newspaper that Golson liked Florida State on his visit there last week and could say as early as today that he will play for the Seminoles next season.
That would appear to suit coach Jimbo Fisher just fine. He’s looking to replace Jameis Winston.
“You have to be upfront with everybody,” Fisher said last week. “We’re going to do what gives us the best chance to be successful.”
Golson, who graduated from Notre Dame on Sunday, reportedly also visited Georgia and Florida last week, but would need a waiver to play at a SEC school.
Georgia is looking to replace Hutson Mason — Mark Richt and Golson are now following each other on Twitter — and Florida is looking for talent and depth at the quarterback position.
Golson threw for 3,455 yards with 29 TDs and 14 INTs last year and lost his starting job to Malik Zaire because of his turnovers. He has 32 turnovers in 26 career games.
Golson threw for 2,405 yards, 12 TDs and six interceptions in 2012, when the Irish finished the regular season undefeated, before losing to Alabama in the BCS national championship game.
