Peter Lawrie.

Remember him? No? Well, he has a good reason for it.

The Irishman has fallen from No. 105 in world golf rankings in 2010 to his current spot at No. 726.

The reason for his slump in form isn’t injury or any physical ailment. Lawrie blames drinking less Coca-Cola to his lack of success on the course.

Someone on at the Atlanta-based headquarters of the soft-drink giant, take note.

"I drink two or three cans a day [now] but I was drinking litres of the stuff," Lawrie told the Daily Mail.

“Even in the hottest country, like Malaysia, I’d have a Coke on the golf course because I was addicted to it.”

Heck, it sounds better than Tiger Woods' excuse.

Chris Cashin, chair of Sports Dietitians UK, added plausibility to Lawrie’s golf-game yip stating ‘Coke has caffeine in it which is performance enhancing. It’s a stimulant, it makes you more alert.”

Lawrie, a pro since 1997, has one European Tour win. He’s never played Augusta and he just made the cut at the 2012 U.S. Open.
