“We’re sunny. We’re pushing up generally into the low 80s,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz said. “Today we’ll be there the next couple of hours.”

Even through 9 p.m., conditions will remain comfortable, with temperatures eventually falling to the upper 60s.

The average high this time of year is 69 degrees, Nitz said. Atlanta weather surpassed that by noon.

Temps were 80 degrees in Atlanta, 72 in Blairsville and 79 in Griffin just before 2:15 p.m.

Temps could hit a high of 83 degrees by 4 p.m. Friday, just below the 86-degree record set in 1940.

And the heat streak will continue into next week.

“The hottest Halloween ever is in the forecast, with a high in the mid-80s,” Nitz said of Atlanta.

Highs are expected to reach 84 degrees Saturday, 85 Sunday and 86 on Halloween Monday.

The record for Sunday is 83 degrees, set in 1998. Monday’s record high (85) was set in 1961.

“We’ve had some pretty cold Halloweens around here,” Nitz said. “It will not be the case this year.”
