To be abundantly clear, no accumulation whatsoever is expected — but snow flurries could fall on metro Atlanta on Monday.

Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said an arctic front will move into the north Georgia mountains by 8 a.m. Monday, bringing the potential for snowfall eclipsing the 1-inch mark. The front will mean only scattered rain for metro Atlanta.

Until the afternoon, at least.

“Throughout the day on Monday, it is very windy, it turns colder, and as that colder air filters in we’ll start to see the opportunity for a wintry mix by mid- to late afternoon in metro Atlanta,” Monahan said. “Again, nothing widespread, but there will be flurries and snow showers and mixed showers through [Monday] afternoon, [Monday] evening and into Tuesday across parts of north Georgia.”

Monday is expected to see a low of 37 degrees and a high of 45. Tuesday and Wednesday are forecast to be even colder, with lows of 28 and 23 degrees, respectively, and highs in the mid-30s.
