For most of Saturday, it’ll be dry in Atlanta, meaning it’ll also be quite hot in Atlanta.

Temperatures in the city will not drop below 70 degrees Saturday, according to Channel 2 Action News chief meteorologist Glenn Burns. That’s about five degrees warmer than typical for early June.

“We should be in the mid-60s, but how about 70 degrees Saturday morning in Atlanta,” Burns said. “In the afternoon, we’re going to be hot.”

The afternoon high is 88 degrees in the city, which is only a few degrees above seasonal norms. However, the 30% chance of rain Saturday will keep the air moist and muggy throughout the day.

“Overall, it’ll be a very hot and a very steamy day,” Burns said. “But I think most of us stay dry.”

The highest chance of an isolated shower or storm is on the Southside, with most of Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb and Gwinnett counties under a 20% chance of rain, Burns said.

Aside from areas where protests are being held, there shouldn't be many traffic slow spots in metro Atlanta, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., a right lane of I-75 North will be blocked at Deering Road due to construction, GDOT Said. In DeKalb, there will be rolling closures along I-285 South at I-20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

The I-285/Ga. 400 interchange project will also lead to some lane closures during the day Saturday, GDOT said. From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., a right southbound lane of Abernathy Road will be closed between Glenlake Parkway and Ga. 400, while a right southbound lane of Ga. 400 will be blocked between Hammond Drive and I-285 from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

While it’ll have no affects on Georgia’s weather, tropical depression Cristobal is expected to restrengthen into a tropical storm as it nears Louisiana on Sunday.

In contrast, Atlanta only has a 10% chance of rain Sunday, but more storms and showers enter the forecast during the work week. The higher rain chance will cool off the city a little bit by Wednesday, according to the latest forecast.
