Metro Atlanta, which entered a severe drought Thursday, has one more 90-degree day before temperatures cool some, according to Channel 2 Action News.
A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Heard and parts of Troup counties until 6:30 p.m.
Temperatures were 94 degrees in Atlanta, 87 degrees in Blairsville and 93 degrees in Griffin just before 6p.m. Thursday.
The expected high Friday is 92 degrees.
Areas south of Griffin may see some isolated showers about 4 p.m. Friday, but rain chances in metro Atlanta are “slim to none over the next few days, especially the weekend,” meteorologist Karen Minton said.
After Friday’s 92-degree day, Saturday and Sunday will see highs in the mid-80s, Channel 2 reported.
Both days will begin in the 60s.
