No Fourth of July is complete without The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race, and there’s pretty much no chance participants could get wet this year.
“Showers and thunderstorms — nothing like that to worry about (Wednesday) morning,” Channel 2 Action News Chief meteorologist Glenn Burns said.
Georgia is in the middle of a month-long pattern of daily scattered showers and thunderstorms, and that’s expected to continue Wednesday afternoon, when there is a 30 percent chance of rain.

The morning should start in the low 70s and build to the upper 80s by lunchtime, topping at a predicted high of 90 degrees, Burns said. So it’ll get toasty during the afternoon, but that’s when the bulk of the storms should come and mellow the heat out a bit.
“As we head through your July 4 afternoon, some isolated showers and storms (start) developing,” Channel 2 meteorologist Brian Monahan said.
