It is windy in metro Atlanta, and it will only get worse as the day progresses, according to Channel 2 Action News.

“Our story today: It’s going to be that mix of clouds and sunshine, windy and gusty weather,” Channel 2 meteorologist Brian Monahan said earlier Wednesday.

Wind gusts could reach up to 30 mph Wednesday, and that wind is expected to bring colder air — and possibly snow — with it.

That wind and cold air must come from in from the north and settle before Georgia could see snow, meteorologist Brad Nitz said.

Temperatures were 44 degrees in Atlanta, 36 in Blairsville and 46 in Griffin just before 9 p.m.

The big drop is expected Thursday, when temperatures could fall to the 30s.

There is a 40 percent chance of precipitation Friday, followed by a 60 percent chance Saturday that could mean a wintry mix of snow, rain and ice.

“We have a couple of days to keep an eye on this,” Monahan said.
