You say metro Atlanta needs rain? Well, plenty of it seems to be on the way this weekend and into next week.

“Here comes the rain, here come the storms, here come the downpours in some neighborhoods,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said Saturday.

Monahan said there’ll be some sunshine, and the weekend will not be a “washout.”

However, look for storms to begin moving into metro Atlanta from the south Saturday afternoon, when the chance of rain will move up to 60 percent.

The rain will continue off and on overnight, with a 60 percent chance of rain Sunday, Monahan said. And Monday will bring a 30 percent chance of the wet stuff.

In all, the metro area could get two to four inches of rain by Wednesday, Monahan said.

It’ll still be warm, with Saturday’s high expected to reach 86 and Sunday to hit 82.

Shortly after 4:30 p.m., temps were at 83 degrees in Atlanta, 86 in Griffin and 87 in Blairsville.
