Bundle up, Atlanta — it’s gonna be freezing out there.
Literally.
Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan is forecasting the first freeze of the season for Monday morning, with overnight lows expected to hit 30 degrees before the sun comes out and warms temperatures to the low 50s. Parts of the north metro made it below freezing earlier this month, Monahan said, but the last sub-freezing temperature in the city came on March 29.
Those headed out to Lenox Square Mall for the Macy’s Great Tree Lighting on Sunday night should also pack an extra jacket. Temperatures are expected to be around 43 degrees at 7 p.m. and creep below 40 by 9 p.m.
Tuesday and Wednesday will bring lows of 33 and 39 degrees, respectively, before warming up to the high 50s.
Turkey Day is expected to be cloudy, Monahan said, but will also bring something to be thankful for — a high temperature of 60 degrees.
