Time to dig out the long johns and extra warm frocks as you head outside on Sunday morning.

Cold weather will be making a stop in metro Atlanta and will stick around for a few days, according to Severe Weather Team 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz.

“We’re headed down to Sunday lows below freezing all across our area,” from the upper 20s to low 30s, Nitz said. “Despite the sunshine, it’s going to be chilly all day long,” he added. Highs will only reach the mid 40s with a north breeze. The clear, cold and windy weather will continue into the early part of the week, Nitz said.

Nitz said clouds will start to come back in on Monday and rain chances will go up Tuesday and Wednesday. “There’s a slight chance we could see a little bit of a wintry mix early Tuesday and then again early Wednesday,” Nitz said.
