Atlanta’s streak of rainy days should continue through Wednesday.

There is a 20 percent chance of rain, but that won’t keep temperatures down. Atlanta should reach a high of 70.

The rainy days helped Atlanta beat a 135-year-old rainfall record Monday, according to Channel 2 Action News.

The city got 4.16 inches of rain Monday, which was 1.76 inches more than the previous record set in 1883, the news station reported.

But Tuesday only saw spotty showers.

Still, that could be enough for more flooding for parts of metro Atlanta.

A flood warning for north Fulton and Forsyth counties is scheduled to last until late Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

The water level at Big Creek near Alpharetta was at 8.9 feet and rising at 9 a.m. Tuesday. The flood stage is 7 feet.

“The river will fall below flood stage tomorrow morning,” the weather service said in the warning.

A warning means flooding is imminent. A watch means conditions are favorable for flooding.

The wet weather continued to wash away leftover pollen. The count dropped from 30 particles per cubic meter of air Monday to 24 Tuesday, according to Atlanta Allergy and Asthma. That’s far short of this year’s season high of 5,354.

North Georgia should get a break from the rain Wednesday, but more showers and a few storms are in Thursday’s forecast, Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said.
