A new report by the Transportation Security Administration showed that $765,759 was left at airport checkpoints by U.S. passengers in 2015.

WPTV reported that the most money left over was $55,086 at LAX in Los Angeles.

In second place was $50,956 from the Miami International Airport.

Other airports include $9,694 at Atlanta's Hartsfield–Jackson International Airport, $30,420 at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, $11,149 at Seattle–Tacoma International Airport and $23,414 and $43,716 left at New York's LaGuardia and JFK airports, respectively.

According to WPTV, federal law states the TSA can keep the leftover change and items to spend "for the purpose of providing civil aviation security."

Money left behind last year was spent on supporting the TSA PreCheck program.
