Lufthansa Airlines is throwing a three-day sale that significantly lowers the cost of travel to destinations across Europe (and more) for spring travel.
If you haven't inquired into airfare costs to Europe lately, these deals might seem shockingly high. However, this sale does represent the best values to cross the pond for the upcoming spring/shoulder season. Take advantage of this sale to save an average of $450 per round-trip ticket to Europe and even more to Africa.
So in order to spend less, don't be dead set on a destination. Instead, travel to where you can get the most for your buck. Here are some examples:
- $786.80 Lisbon, Portugal
- $838.90 Bucharest, Romania
- $841 Budapest, Hungary
- $847.60 Frankfurt, Germany
- $890 Vienna, Austria
- $1009.20 Cairo, Egypt
To qualify, give at least a two-week advance notice of travel. Weekend travel is $35 higher, each way. Plan to stay at least one Saturday night and return within 30 days of departure.
Lufthansa serves Frankfurt with nonstop service. Travel to all other destinations require a stop and change of aircraft in Frankfurt. Stopovers are not permitted.
As of Wednesday, Delta Air Lines and other carriers are joining in on this sale by matching rates to select destinations -- and also by extending the springtime savings with more European and African cities.
For instance, the following round-trip rates are valid on Delta/KLM service with connecting service in Amsterdam (stopovers not permitted):
- $813.90 Bucharest, Romania
- $816.10 Budapest, Hungary
- $822.20 Munich, Germany (nonstop)
- $828.70 Warsaw, Poland
- $847.20 Frankfurt, Germany (nonstop)
- $887.90 Vienna, Austria
- $898.60 Berlin, Germany
Other exceptional round-trip offers from Atlanta include (no stopovers):
- $995.60 Casablanca, Morocco (Delta/Air Maroc via NYC-JFK)
- $1046.90 Dar es Salaam (American/British Airways via London)
- $1066.40 Tunis, Tunisia (Air France via Paris)
- $1080.10 Nairobi, Kenya (Delta/KLM via Amsterdam)
- $1108.70 Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (United/Lufthansa via Frankfurt)
Follow the Lufthansa rules as stated above.
Buy tickets to Europe and Africa through midnight, Thursday (3/15).
Sale airfares are always subject to change. Every seat on every flight is not offered at the lowest rate. Since only a limited supply of seats is available, act quickly to make your purchase.
I recommend starting the search for available seats at Kayak.com vs. calling an airline directly. You can also search for the sale at travel Web sites such as Expedia or Travelocity, etc.
