Amelia Island Plantation offers family deal

Florida's Amelia Island Plantation is a AAA 4-Diamond Atlantic beach resort situated on 1,350-acres and surrounded by natural beauty.

The resort's four challenging golf courses are Audubon International certified and tennis players enjoy 23 Har-Tru tennis courts (the resort is home to the annual Bausch & Lomb tennis tournament).

Other resort features include a two-tiered pool deck, a fitness center, a nature center, a holistic spa, a variety of restaurants and shops and Segway tours.

Amelia Island Plantation in Florida is offering a "Family Nature Adventure" vacation, July 30 through Aug. 1.

Friday night activities include a welcome introduction at the Nature Center with a tour of Amelia at night.

Saturday from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., participants will go birding on bicycles and in the afternoon from 1 to 4:30 p.m. take part in a beach scavenger hunt and Seining (an activity of capturing marine species in a net for close examination followed by a quick release back into the water).

Sunday morning from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., families will enjoy crabbing, nature games and a kayak trip at Walkers Landing leaving the afternoon open to enjoy the other amenities at Amelia.

Nature camp for families with a minimum age of 6 years old is priced from $250 for a family of four. Additional families members pay $50 each or $65 per individual for up to three family members.

Special room rates are available for nature camp attendees. A resort view two-bedroom villa starts at $229 and an ocean view two-bedroom villa starts at $279 (based on a family of four).

Spacious ocean view accommodations have a king in the master bedroom and two twins in the second bedroom. The villa has a full size kitchen, living room, dining room, two full baths, and a balcony or patio overlooking the ocean. Television with cable channels, high-speed Internet access, in-room safe, coffeemaker (a custom blend of coffee is provided each day of your stay) and fine bath amenities by Essentiel Elements.

Amelia Island Plantation is on Amelia Island in northeast Florida, just across the St. Marys River from Georgia and adjacent to the historic city of Fernandina. Jacksonville International Airport is 29 miles south.
