When Teressa Bellissimo fried some chicken wings, tossed them in her secret sauce, and served them with blue cheese and celery in 1964 Buffalo, New York, she likely never envisioned how popular they would become.
You can get more than just Buffalo sauce these days. Your wings can be dry or wet, hot or mild, barbecue or lemon pepper.
When you’re craving those flats and drums, where do you go?
For last week’s Best of Atlanta poll, we gave you eight choices for the best wings in Atlanta, but you emailed with 32 more options. Some of those places received more than one nomination, but only one got enough to be added to the poll.
More than a thousand people voted in our poll. Here are the results:
In a three-way tie for sixth place were Jamal’s Buffalo Wings, So Good Chicken & Wings, and Nam Phuong.
In fifth place was last year’s winner, Highlands Grill.
Tied for third place were write-in nominee Taco Mac and Clay’s Sports Cafe.
In second place was JR Crickets.
The 2020 winner of best wings in metro Atlanta was last year’s third place finisher, Three Dollar Cafe.
