No word on Carter return yet
Following his team’s loss to North Carolina Wednesday night, Georgia Tech coach Brian Gregory said that the testing of forward Robert Carter’s surgically-repaired knee had to be postponed due to the travel difficulties imposed by the adverse road conditions in metro Atlanta.
Gregory said that doctors will put Carter through a workout on Thursday to test the strength and stability of his left knee. Carter tore the meniscus in the joint Dec. 30 in the Yellow Jackets’ final nonconference game. He had surgery to repair it three weeks ago.
If doctors find the knee to be healing well and the pain level for Carter is manageable, he will be put on a rehabilitation schedule to try to bring him back before the end of the season. Otherwise, Carter will be put on the shelf for the remainder of the season.
Carter is past the point where he could receive a medical redshirt.
Gregory did offer a hopeful note regarding Carter, saying that the knee has responded well and that “he’s moving around pretty good.”
