A fan who fell nearly 50 feet at Game 7 of the NBA finals between the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers has made a pointed claim about what led to the fall.
The Associated Press reported that the man, Salvator Bimbo, 21, fell during a fight at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California, June 19.
Bimbo, whose name was not released at the time, got into a fight with another fan on the second deck of the arena next to the concessions, according to Oakland Police Department spokeswoman Johnna Watson.
KRON spoke with Bimbo, who is in stable condition at the intensive care unit at Highland Hospital.
His father, Ronnie Bimbo, asked Salvator Bimbo if he knew what happened at the game, to which the married father of two responded, "Yes."
"There are rumors out there that you jumped over the ledge," Ronnie Bimbo said. "Is that true?”
"I did not jump," Bimbo said. "I was pushed by a Cavaliers fan."
The Warriors fan has several surgeries scheduled in the future, including one on his elbow, according to KRON.
KRON reported that Ronnie Bimbo is offering a $20,000 reward for anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who he said pushed Salvador Bimbo.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help with recovery costs. It has raised over $2,000 of its $25,000 goal.
