UGA cornerback tweets of serious knee injury

June 13, 2013

Georgia freshman cornerback Reggie Wilkerson indicated on Twitter that he suffered a serious knee injury Wednesday. Wilkerson described it in a tweet as “RG3 type-ish.” Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III had surgery after last season for a torn knee ligament.

A UGA spokesman said in an e-mail late Thursday afternoon that “as of now we don’t have any info we can share” on a Wilkerson injury.

But Bulldogs wide receiver Michael Bennett posted on Twitter, “Y’all pray for Reggie Wilkerson as he goes into ACL surgery tomorrow.”

Wilkerson, from Ocala, Fla., is one of six defensive backs in Georgia’s 2013 signing class. He enrolled at UGA in January and participated in spring practice.
