Top 10 quarterbacks in NFL draft

1. Cam Newton, Auburn, 6-feet-5, 248 pounds: As a true freshman he backed up Tim Tebow at Florida. In the first game of his sophomore year, he suffered an ankle injury and opted for a medical redshirt year. He went on to lead Blinn Junior College in Texas and Auburn to national championships.

2. Blaine Gabbert, Missouri, 6-4, 234: He was a two-year starter for the Tigers. He is considered the best pocket passer in the draft, but has a three-quarters to sidearm delivery.

3. Ryan Mallett, Arkansas, 6-6, 247: He is not very athletic in the pocket and runs slow. However, he has a lively arm and can throw the ball 80 yards.

4. Jake Locker, Washington, 6-2, 231: He is extremely athletic, but has accuracy issues. He likely would have been the top quarterback taken if he'd come out last season.

5. Andy Dalton, TCU, 6-2, 215: He had a 42-7 record as a starter for the Horned Frogs. He was the two-time Mountain West Conference player of the year.

6. Colin Kaepernick, Nevada, 6-5, 233: He dazzled the nation in a stirring 34-31 victory over Boise State last season. He is the only player in NCAA history to amass 10,000 yards passing and 4,000 yards rushing.

7. Christian Ponder, Florida State, 6-2, 229: His father, David, played for the Seminoles in the early 1980s. He had a 22-13 record as a starter.

8. Pat Devlin, Delaware; 6-3, 225: Started his college career at Penn State before transferring to Delaware. He posted a 17-8 record with the Blue Hens.

9. Greg McElroy, Alabama, 6-2, 220: He guided the Crimson Tide to a BCS title as a junior. He scored a 43 on the Wonderlic test at the NFL scouting combine.

10. Tyrod Taylor, Virginia Tech, 6-foot-3/4 3/4;, 217: He had a 34-8 record as a starter for the Hokies. He's a little short, but has a lively arm.
